Nature here is unrivalled. Formidable blocks of pink granite sculptured into extravagant shapes over thousands of years by wind and sea create an impressive landscape constantly evolving with the tides.
TRÉGASTEL - OUR ASSETS
A magical universe can be discovered walking or hiking either along the coastal tracks (GR34) or through the wooded Traouiero valleys.
As a sea-resort for families, Tregastel offers events for all in every season : sportive and cultural animations with Cap Armor and Cap Sports during school holidays, concerts the whole year at the Café-Toucouleur and with the Association Estran Musical de Trégastel (Musical Foreshore from Tregastel association), exhibitions, tournaments, without forgetting the traditional "24 heures de la voile" (sailing race) which is the major event of the summer.
HISTORY HERITAGE OF
TRÉGASTEL
THE MEGALITHS : Burial chambers, dolmens and standing stones remain as proof of a rich prehistoric culture in Trégor's ancient past. Kerguntuil dating from the end of the Neolithic era is an extraordinary collection of dolmens and standing stones.
THE CELTIC STELA : A standing stone whose solid granite is engraved with sybols dating from the 5th century BC. Originally situated north of St Anne's chapel, it was then re-located to a private garden and is now displayed inside the tourist information centre.
CHURCHES, CHAPELS AND WAYSIDE CROSSES : The town's parish church boasts a semi-circular ossuary that has been a listed monument since 1909 (guided visits in July and August), St Anne des Rochers chapel, Golgon chapel renovated in 2006, the town's wayside cross.
NATURAL HERITAGE OF TRÉGASTEL
Over 17 kilometers of coastline with numerous golden beaches linked by a coastal trail. Rain or shine, this hiking trail (GR34) leads you to spectacular viewpoints at every turn.
Classified as a natural reserve, the Renote Peninsula has greatly benefited from a conservation programme piloted by the Tregastel town council and the Coastal Protection Agency. Massive pink granite boulders stacked and sculptured by nature, sheltered inlets, tidal marshes are all treasures to be discovered and shared.
The Traouiero is a Côtes d'Armor public parkland of two wooded valleys sprinkled with astonishingly balanced chaotic rock formations. Peopled with both historical and mythical personalities, the Traoueiro valleys conceal many a mystery. (guided visits from June to September).
